Tagara bucking the downward trend
September 2011
Looking at our Works In Progress list, I am very pleased to say that Tagara is bucking the trend seeing a slow down across the South Australian building industry. In fact, we've already almost met our 2011/ 2012 sales budget of $115 million. Projects that have now gained maximum momentum and will be completed as per their building program include, Uno Apartments, Woodville West Urban Renewal Project and Port Augusta Prison.
The Estimating team is still working at fever pitch on opportunities including a 16 storey building in the City, an aged care facility at Croydon Park and an upgrade program for defence housing at the RAAF base Tindal, outback Northern Territory, just to mention a few. The Tindal project is one of two opportunities that have come our way due to our new Federal Safety Commissioner Accreditation. The second project we have been asked to tender on is the Playford North Teaching and Training Facility for Adelaide Unicare. Both of course are Federally funded projects.
Tagara have had a successful two or three years, in different areas. Always conscious of time, quality and price we must be careful never to compromise WH&S. The directors have clearly stated there is zero tolerance on WH&S issues, they are an absolute priority. Having the opportunity to recently visit building sites in the USA, Canada and Europe on my overseas trip, I feel the WH&S at Tagara is of an outstanding international standard. The key is to maintain that consistency, and for us to do that, all employees need to be involved, as it can't be achieved in isolation.
