Tullio Tagliaferri and John Kassara commenced the operations of Tagara Builders on 3rd August 1992 in St Agnes, and operated there until June 1994 when the company moved to a larger premises at Trinity Gardens. By March 2004 the company employed over one hundred permanent staff and a move to the current Glynde head office followed in November that same year.


Tagara competes in the commercial construction sector of the building industry, and also provides responsive maintenance services for corporate clients, and acts as a sub-contractor in the concrete trade. The range of work includes the educational, medical, prison, retail, hospitality, community, heritage, visitor centre, fit-out, and design and construct sectors.


The company achieved Quality Assurance accreditation in 1996 satisfying the requirements of ISO 9001. In 1999 the company won a Workcover award for Continual Improvement in Safety and in 2005 satisfied the requirements of Workcover's Safety Achiever Business System.


In 2007 Tagara achieved accreditation to the national Work Health, Safety & Welfare standard, AS 4801:2001, and the international Environmental Management standard ISO 14001:2004 in 2009. In 2011 it achieved accreditation to the National Safety Commissioner's requirements, the most rigorous WHS&W system in Australia.
